If you had lived in medieval Europe one of your challenges would have been getting enough food. There were often famines caused by bad weather and or population growth. Fast forward to the 3rd millennium and in much of Europe and North America food is abundant and cheap. No longer are people restricted to seasonal foods as imports arrive from all parts of the globe. For people with disposable income there is no need to prepare food, you can eat out for every meal and the kitchen may be redundant.
For this lucky group of people the question of food is more about choice than the necessity of eating. Then if the meal is something special the the experience is possibly the focus of attention. The value is in the experience not the nutritional value of the food, although that may be part of the experience.
And the selection of dining experience is wide, so how do you invent a new dinning experience?
Answer, change the venue and the menu for every meeting - Pop Up restaurants.
The Dinner Lab offers club members:
A new location for every meal
Creative menus
A social dinning experience on long tables where you are likely to be seated next to a stranger
The opportunity to provide feedback as the chef joins diners during the meal
